Change Implementation Reviews (CIR's)

When you think about the millions of dollars your organization spends each year on Information Technology (IT) programs of work and business transformation programs, wouldn't it be prudent knowing that employees actually understand and embrace the reasons behind the changes?
Our approach to undertaking a CIR is that it is only focussed on stakeholder and employee engagement with major change. Our unique methodology is similar to how a post implementation review is conducted, based on our years managing IT and business transformation projects.
If your organization's approach to change is new skills training and employee communication strategies that include stakeholder management (translated briefings), intranet and email updates that's not managing change, rather it is focussed on information.
Every organization's culture is different, so it follows that every approach to change management and employee communication must be different to maximise the investment and potential of the system changes that are implemented.

How does a CIR work?

We focus on the phases of the SDLC or project lifecycle for IT related projects and identify specific engagement strategies at each phase.
Similarly with business transformation programs we identify the relevant phases of the project and use our methodology to measure the impact of change strategies in engaging all stakeholders and the impact on business outcomes.

Detail

A CIR is usually conducted over a 4 week period, more extensive travel and locations will require additional time. The review can be conducted focussed on a program of work, several projects or one individual project. This will all impact on the time taken to review, however as it is the one organization the benefits are that the outcomes and recommendations can be applied across all projects.

Considering the value of a CIR?

If you are considering the value of CIR you need to ask yourself firstly what your current costs are of hiring a change manager and the cost of the tools that are used to communicate change. The investment in a CIR will be significantly less, yet the benefits of having professionals with IT, business transformation and employee engagement expertise will provide you not only with a change management approach for future projects but also significant cost savings.
